You Asked

A number of questions keep popping up, so you must need answers.

Can Jim have VISITORS?  Yes!!!  Here are the parameters:

• Are you healthy?  You must be to visit.  No grey area here- healthy yes, not healthy no.
• When can you come?  Normal visiting hours are 8-8, but no one will throw you out if we are all having fun.  Staff wants happy patients.
• When is a good time?  Most days are good and Jim would love to see you whenever you can come. Call me, LN, if you want to check the situation.  Usually mid-day and afternoons are best as mornings seem to be the time for "hospital business", but hey, if you have time in the morning, come then.
• How many visitors can come?  There are no restrictions; the room is BIG and there are lots of chairs.  2 is a nice number, 3 is grand... Parties of 6 should take it in shifts. 
• What can you bring?  Look at it this way, if it is alive and it is not human, leave it at home. No food, plants, flowers or critters.  However, if it is funny, entertaining, or even vaguely amusing and doesn't contradict the "live" criteria, bring it on!  Face it- hospitals are not very entertaining and basic cable TV has it's limitations.  Jim has his laptop, and the room has TV, DVD, VCR and yet to be investigated gaming systems.  Right now, we are working our way through the complete Pink Panther collectors edition DVD's, (thanks, MJ!).  James Bond, anyone? The room is nearly sound proof, so we are happy Rob Perrot is bringing his guitar; we'll enjoy it and the neighbors won't be bothered.
• What should you wear? Anything as long as it's clean (see above; don't bring anything "live" on your clothes like pollen, dirt, seeds, fungus...).
• Where is Jim?  He is at the main campus of City of Hope, 1500 E. Duarte Road City of Hope- Directions and his room is in the Helford Hospital, 6th floor East, room 6219.  
• Park? In the visitors lot and check in with the reception desk in the lobby of the Helford building.

Other issues, almost like "visiting" but not quite:

• Internet/Cell Phone- yes, the room has internet (COHGUEST).  It is not super fast, but is reasonable and yes, we all can use our cell phones in the room, halls, lobbies... and yes, Jim would like to talk with you on the phone.
• Sending stuff. If you want to send Jim something that won't fit in the Ethernet address it to:

• What does he need?  Just what you all have been sending him; your love, thoughts, good wishes and prayers.  Anything else is icing on the mashed potatoes.
